Inboxes, 2025
Made in response to managing multiple inboxes in a busy office admin job, this series explores how meaningful dialogue is often replaced by functional commands and superficial pleasantries, leaving little room for creativity or the poetic potential of language. Sprawling stretched text and fragmented codes are underpinned by grids and arrows. These chaotic diagrams and office data converge to form a single smooth surface. The illegibility of these combined elements is intended to reflect how cognitive labour’s reliance on clipped language and brief exchanges can create a sense of alienation and abstraction, while also diminishing the depth and richness of communication in favour of speed and efficiency.
